If your go-to password is on the list below, it is way past time to think of a more secure password! A recent report from mobile security firm Lookout listed the 20 passwords most commonly found in leaked account information on the dark web. Meaning these are the most commonly used passwords, they are easy for hackers to guess, and if they get into your accounts they have full access to your information and can easily steal from you. The list ranges from simple number and letter sequences like “123456” and “Qwerty” to easily typed phrases like “Iloveyou.” We have said this before but it bears repeating – NEVER USE PASSWORDS THIS EASY!
We understand WHY you want an easy-to-remember password. According to a recent report from NordPass, the average person has more than 100 different online accounts that require passwords. However, making them easy also means they are not secure.
Not sure why you should care? On average, 80% of consumers have had their emails leaked for criminals to use onto the dark web. Odds are your information has already been leaked. This leads hackers straight to you to grab your identity information or banking.
Anyhow, here’s Lookout’s list of the 20 passwords most commonly found on the dark web due to data breaches:
