Cool New Tech : Vehicle Collision Alarm

self driving car

A Dutch company has created a device that warns drivers of impending collisions, dangerously close vehicles, or if the driver is drifting out of their lane. The system consists of a small windshield-mounted camera and a dash-mounted display unit. The camera monitors the road ahead and the driver is then alerted to any problems via flashing color-coded icons on the display as well as an audible alarm. The driver has about 3 seconds to respond to the alarm and avoid the accident as the system itself does not control any of the vehicles functions. It’s a little heads-up system to help minimize accidents.
